Muar x Malacca// Road-trip
2:20 AM
Just a month ago, my friends
and I went down to Malacca + Muar for a food trip before one of my dearest
girlfriend fly to Korea to hunt for handsome oppas!
We went and picked up ZY on
the way and went for yam rice and pork soup for breakfast. We spent some time looking for food as
Malacca town don’t seem to cater for morning riser.
Yam Rice + Pork Soup RM 1.20 +RM6 |
The pork soup tasted like a
milder version of Bak Kut Teh, filled with pork strips and inner organs. The
combination was warming and not too heavy for an early morning.

Once we reached Muar and
picked MS up, we went straight to the famous Mee Bandung in town and it
certainly was not disappointing.
Mee Bandung Ayam RM 7 |
The gravy was so rich and thick with dried
shrimps and squid. The fried chicken served was a big cut too. One serving
of this will pretty much fill you up. One of the best mee bandung that I have tried!
Mee Bandung Abu Bakar Hanipah
69-A, Jalan Abdullah, Muar, Johor
Operating Hours: 6:30am to 5:00pm
Apparently Muar is famous
with their very cheap Char Kuey Teow (RM 3 only!).
We went over to Food Court 333 to get our CKT fix!
The stall was located at the left corner and was the
only stall there for CKT.
Char Kuey Teow Extra RM 5.50 |
We had ours added with otak-otak and fried egg and it
was good! The otak- otak and runny yolk added a creamy texture to the noodles.
Something different from the usual CKT as it was sweeter and thicker.
Medan Selera 333
Jalan Ali, 84000 Muar, Johor
Operating hours:
Mon.-Sun. 7.00am tto 3.00 pm
Next, we went to Avenue 4
a.ka Glutton Street for a quick bite.
Wan Tan Mee RM5.50 |
The Wan Tan Mee had quite a
reputation but I failed to find the goodness of it besides that the fact that
we can add sambal to it. It tasted like a regular wantanmee *no offence*.
Wan Tan Mee stall was the first on your left once you entered Avenue 4. |
Oyster Egg RM 8 |
The oyster egg from the
opposite street was yummy though! The oysters were fat and pulpy while the egg
mixture was slightly chewy. A little greasy but it was good with the chilli
sauce given.

Pork Satay RM 0.55/ per skewer |
However, the pork satay was
the shiniest star of them all, grilled to perfection- it was tender, juicy at a
very good price. The gravy was slightly on the sweet side.

The weather was a little too
much for us during noon time so we went over to the nearest air conditioner
place to chill a bit.
Cake and Coffee Set RM12.80 |
We visited one of the café and the coffee was acceptable but not the cake. The crepe was tad too dry for my liking.
Cyclez Cafe,
Level 3, WETEX Parade.
Operating hours:
Daily 10am - 10 pm
After that, we went a little
outskirt to check out the junk food rojak. It was really unique!
Junk Food Rojak + Fruits RM12.50 |
We added in Mamee along with bika and dried
sotong, it was savoury and paired well with the juicy fruits.

We were experiencing a
little food coma after all the eating so we went over the Tan Brother Aquatic to take
a look. Felt like a kid all over again!

MS also brought us to their
famous park in Tanjung, where we relaxed and enjoyed some otak-otak we bought
on the way.

My friends and I went chill
and easy after that and we headed back to Malacca as we planned to have
Longkang Siham. ( we didn't in the end)
Less Ice Mango Juice RM3 |
But first, we went over to
Joe’s Mango Juice at Portuguese Village to freshen up our palette. It was tangy
and sweet, a cousin to Asam Boi.
Joes Only One Mango Juice
Batu Berendam Medan Selera, Portuguese Settlement.
Operating hours:
5.30 pm onwards
These were the pictures from
my previous visit as we didn’t managed to visit the place.
Four Treasure Rojak- big RM15 |
The four treasure
rojak was a must try, together with the siham, balitong and lala. They were all
very fresh and went well with the condiments given.
Balitong RM 5 |
LaLa RM 2 |
Sotong Kangkung - Big RM15 |
Longkang Siham,
Jalan Bunga Raya, Malacca.
Operating hours:

Follow up with that, we went
over the Geographer Café for a small drink. Their coconut prawns was famous
too but we were too bloated to stuff any food.
Geographer's Delight RM 20 |
I ordered a Geographer Delight
which contained white rum, midori, melon liquer, honeydew juice, lime juice and
soda water. It was fizzy and fruity, something fresh after a long greasy day.
Geographer Cafe,

This was the first time I visited Muar! It
was indeed a good experience with better company. Looking forward for the next
food trip already. *omnomnom*
